Academic Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • One or more completed semesters or two or more completed quarters of college credit by application deadline
  • We also recommend completing first-year writing courses required at your current institution

Know Before You Apply

  • You can transfer up to 64 semester units or 96 quarter units from a community college
  • You must complete at least two years of study at Pitzer to earn a Pitzer College degree

Other Recommendations

We recommend that students transferring before getting an associate’s degree take many subjects. This includes the humanities, math, social science, and science. We will pay special attention to your work in college courses.

California community college students should do courses in the Inter-Segmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC). Find out more about IGETC from the counseling center at your community college. The Pitzer Office of Admission can assist in planning.

If you are 23 years of age or older, consider applying as a New Resources student.

  • We require at least one recommendation from a college professor (or teaching assistant).
  • Recommendations should be submitted through the Common Application website.
  • Your recommender can also email/mail their recommendation to applicant@2fitfashion.com.
  • Recommenders must send their letters directly to the Office of Admission.
  • Download the College Report here or from the Common Application website.
  • The report should be completed by a college official with access to your academic and disciplinary records. Examples include a dean, adviser, or registrar. 
  • Not currently enrolled? The report should come from your most recently attended college or university.
  • The college official should email the report to applicant@2fitfashion.com. You may also send it to the Office of Admission in a sealed envelope.
  • All colleges/universities you have attended must send your official transcript. They can send it to the Office of Admission by mail or to applicant@2fitfashion.com. 
  • Request your transcript at least four weeks in advance of the admission deadline.
  • Submit your high school transcript if you have finished less than 32 semester credits or 48 quarter credits by the admission deadline. You may email your official high school transcript to applicant@2fitfashion.com.

At Pitzer College, we recognize that many applicants may not have access to mentors or support networks to guide them through the college application process. Thoughtfully used, AI tools can be valuable resources in what can often be a complex and overwhelming journey. By providing support where it might otherwise be lacking, these tools can promote access and equity. We believe that AI can be a meaningful aid in generating ideas and refining your thoughts as you work on your application, but the final submission should authentically reflect your own voice, experiences, and insights. Just as you wouldn’t submit content written by someone else, avoid copying and pasting AI-generated text directly into your application without making it your own. Instead, we encourage you to approach AI as you would any other collaborative resource—use it to brainstorm, edit, and polish your work.

If you choose to incorporate AI-based assistance, consider it a tool for enhancing your creative process. You might use it to help shape your responses to our essay prompts or to refine your activity descriptions in the Common Application. However, always ensure that the outcome genuinely represents you and your perspective. It’s crucial that your application remains a true reflection of your voice and personal story.

We recognize AI's role as a potential partner in your process, particularly if you do not have access to other forms of guidance. However, the integrity of your application—and its reflection of your own thoughts, efforts, and aspirations—should always come first.
